Graeme Myrteza

“I am passionate about painting; I love the smell of the paints, turps, canvas and above all – the challenge and satisfaction of capturing the dramatic play of light on the gum trees, mountains, rivers and valleys of our magnificent country”.
Graeme Myrteza lived and worked as a farmer on the land at Thorpdale, in Gippsland, Victoria, all his life. As a child he enjoyed drawing and painting but after leaving school time for artwork ceased as the workload of running a farm took over. In 2005 Graeme’s life changed forever when his son, Brett, passed away. He found therapy through painting helped deal with the loss of Brett and with encouragement from family and friends, he had a paint brush in his hand every day since.
Graeme Myrteza  studied under artist Bill Roberts from Churchill and participated in numerous workshops and art courses. He achieved success at various group and solo exhibitions and enjoyed a number of outback painting adventures with artist Gary Miles.

Graeme Sadly passed away at the end of 2024.
